A plain-English explanation of what I collect, why, and your rights under UK data protection law.

Who I am
Ness Web Studio is a one-person web design studio run by Matthew Latimer, based in Inverness, Scotland. I am the data controller for information collected through this website. You can contact me about privacy at matthew@nesswebstudio.co.uk or on 07738 873443.
What I collect
When you request a free mockup I collect your name, business name, email address, and, if you choose to give them, your phone number, current website address, what you’d like to improve and your message.
Why I use it
I use these details only to reply to your request, prepare your mockup and discuss your website. The lawful basis is legitimate interests, and steps taken at your request before entering into a contract. I never sell your details or use them for unrelated marketing.
Who else handles it
Your information is stored securely with my website hosting and database providers, who process it on my behalf and only on my instructions. Some providers may store data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
How long I keep it
If we don’t go on to work together, I delete your enquiry within 12 months. If you become a client, I keep relevant records for as long as needed for the work and for legal and accounting purposes (usually six years).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how I use it, or ask me to restrict it. Get in touch and I’ll respond within one month. If you’re unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
This website only uses strictly necessary storage that it needs to work — for example, remembering that you’ve dismissed the cookie notice. I don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, I’ll ask for your consent first.
